Leadership That
Moves People
to Action
Battle-tested leadership principles — drawn from 23 years of Naval service and executive coaching — delivered directly to your team, your organization, or your congregation.
Service
Jim Hendley —
Commander, USN (Ret.)
Jim Hendley spent 23 years in the United States Navy as a logistics and strategy officer — leading teams through complex, high-stakes operations where clarity, accountability, and decisive leadership were not optional.
After leaving the Navy, Jim brought those same leadership disciplines into the corporate world as a senior executive, and eventually into the coaching room as a John Maxwell-certified executive coach. Today, he speaks to business teams, government agencies, and ministry leaders who want to lead with the kind of conviction and competence that produces lasting results.
Jim doesn't just talk about leadership. He lived it — in conditions that demanded it.
Eight Seminars That Transform How Teams Lead
Each topic is available as a keynote address, half-day workshop, or full-day intensive — and can be customized to your industry, audience, and organizational context. Topics 07 and 08 are delivered under license as a John Maxwell Certified Coach.
The Commander's Approach to Vision
Most teams underperform not because they lack talent — but because they lack clarity. This seminar teaches leaders how to define, communicate, and reinforce a mission that their entire team can execute — without the leader in every conversation.
- How to write and deliver Commander's Intent
- The difference between tasks and mission
- Communicating vision under pressure and change
- Building team alignment that doesn't require daily reinforcement
High-stakes decisions rarely come with perfect information or unlimited time. This seminar equips leaders with a repeatable decision-making framework — drawn directly from Naval operations — that produces confident, defensible decisions even in uncertain environments.
- The 40–70 Rule: when to decide and when to wait
- Risk assessment and contingency planning
- How to reverse a bad decision with credibility intact
- Building a decision-making culture in your team
Resilience isn't a personality trait — it's a leadership product. This seminar teaches leaders how to build teams that hold together when the pressure rises, adapt when the plan changes, and maintain performance standards when conditions are far from ideal.
- What makes teams fracture under stress — and how to prevent it
- Building psychological safety alongside high accountability
- How to lead your team through failure without losing momentum
- Developing the next generation of leaders within your team
Accountability is the most misunderstood discipline in modern leadership. Most leaders either avoid it entirely or confuse it with punishment. This seminar reframes accountability as an act of respect — and teaches leaders how to hold high standards in a way that builds trust, not fear.
- Why avoiding accountability is expensive — for everyone
- How to set standards that your team can actually meet
- The anatomy of an effective accountability conversation
- Modeling accountability from the top down
Organizations that depend on heroic individual effort cannot scale — and eventually collapse under the weight of their own success. This seminar teaches leaders how to build the operational systems and delegation structures that allow growth without grinding down the people who produce it.
- Why hero culture is a growth killer — and how to spot it
- Building Standard Operating Procedures that people actually follow
- The six steps of effective delegation
- How to create an organization that runs without the leader in every decision
The most effective leaders Jim has encountered — in the Navy and in business — share one defining characteristic: they lead for the benefit of the people they serve, not for the recognition they receive. This seminar bridges military service leadership with faith-based and values-driven leadership principles.
- What servant leadership looks like in practice — not just in theory
- How purpose-driven leadership produces better outcomes
- The relationship between personal integrity and organizational trust
- Leading volunteers, staff, and congregations toward a shared mission
of Growth
Based on John Maxwell's landmark work, this seminar unpacks the 15 essential laws that govern personal and professional growth — and shows leaders how to build those laws into the culture of their team or organization. Growth is not automatic. It is intentional, sequential, and learnable.
- The Law of Intentionality — growth doesn't just happen
- The Law of Reflection — learning to pause and evaluate
- The Law of Environment — how surroundings shape potential
- The Law of Contribution — growing beyond yourself
Leadership
John Maxwell's most iconic leadership framework — taught by Jim Hendley through the lens of Naval service and executive coaching. Leaders at every level will understand exactly where they stand, what it takes to rise to the next level, and how to develop the people around them to rise with them.
- Level 1 — Position: the lowest form of leadership
- Level 2 — Permission: leadership through relationship
- Level 3 — Production: results that earn credibility
- Levels 4 & 5 — People Development & Pinnacle
